The Ascending Moon: Energy Renewal
The moon has been present in the eyes of humanity since before our existence, its glow illuminating the nights. Its cycles are intimately connected to the Sun, like two lovers who can never meet, with Earth being their meeting garden. The moon has been portrayed as the mystical mother, the feminine presence in the sky under a creative chalice, from which the light of illumination flows. Its influence on renewal is a deeply personal image, one that resides within us with the same intimacy as the night.
This mystical image of the moon as mother, creator, and renewer corresponds to its phases and regular cycles in the sky. After the moon fades away, it renews itself at the end of the day. Its energetic and gravitational influence has shaped the cycles of life on Earth, which are measured based on the perpendicularity of its position in the sky, specifically during the equinoxes. The moon has governed our vital cycles, causing our energy to change and transform, decrease, and renew. This happens as the moon affects our mood and even the way we process daily experiences.
The moon’s presence was once a useful guide, indicating when it would illuminate our path. It also served to warn of potential challenges during our journeys or when it was time to sow crops or fell trees, ensuring that the sap remained in the ground and not in the branches. Our energy can be renewed, allowing us to focus on achieving our goals or recharge our plans and projects with maximum spirit.
This energetic symbiosis between electromagnetic and gravitational forces, known as gravitomagnetism, is a branch of physics that challenges how we perceive and measure time. Quantum physics has measured the universal influence of gravitational and electromagnetic forces. We are part of this astral system of balance, with the moon, as Earth’s satellite, playing a crucial role in our energetic connection. It can act as our celestial link for project renewal or embarking on a new way of life, influencing how the moon’s gravity affects our energy based on its movements relative to the Earth.
Because the moon’s orbit is elliptical, it can be between 356,398 km and 406,698 km from Earth. This orbital pattern also means that we only ever see one side of the moon. The moon takes 27.3 days to orbit the Earth, but both Earth and the moon orbit the Sun at different speeds. The moon actually takes 25 days, 12 hours, 44 minutes, and 28 seconds to complete one orbit of the Earth (new moon). In contrast, Earth rotates every 24 hours, but there was a time when Earth rotated so fast that a day lasted only 5 hours. Since its formation, the moon’s gravitational force has slowed Earth’s rotation over billions of years, syncing the planet’s rhythm with its satellite.
Since the collision that created the moon, Earth’s axis has been tilted at a constant angle of 23 degrees. This tilt allows for variations in sunlight and seasons, stabilizing the climate and, therefore, the cycle of life. The moon is in synchronous rotation with Earth, always showing the same face towards the planet.
Astronomical Significance of the Spring Equinox
The spring equinox is a moment of balance, with Earth’s axis neither tilting away nor towards the Sun. This results in an almost equal distribution of sunlight between the hemispheres. This event is one of the four cardinal points of the solar cycle, along with the autumn equinox and the summer and winter solstices.
The equinoxes occur when the Sun is at the first point of Aries or the first point of Libra. The first is the point where the Sun, in its apparent annual movement along the ecliptic, crosses from south to north of the celestial equator, with its declination changing from negative to positive. At the first point of Libra, the opposite occurs: the Sun appears to pass from north to south of the celestial equator, with its declination changing from positive to negative, according to mathematical interpretation within a Cartesian plane with Earth’s center at point zero.
In reality, neither equinox is located within the constellation that names it, due to precession: the first point of Aries is in Pisces, and the first point of Libra is in Virgo. The equatorial coordinates of each equinox are: a) for the vernal equinox, right ascension and zero declination; b) for the first point of Libra, right ascension of 12 hours and zero declination.
This equatorial synchronization in relation to the moon’s movements is the perfect time to perform lunar rituals with essences of positive energy. As the moon ascends through Pisces and descends through Virgo, the spectral energy flowing through the body aligns with the Earth, making it a time to ask the universe for advice, knowledge, or wisdom. The light carried by the moon to perigee will anchor your energy with the moon, rapidly ascending.
In contrast, during apogee—the moon’s farthest point from Earth, occurring during the autumn equinox—the descending energetic flow represents a moon of release. This time allows for cleansing the body of spiritual heaviness and preparing to let go of worries. It is also a special moment for meditation and introspection. This downward flow towards apogee draws your spirit towards the universe, a process of rebirth of vital energy that brings you to the peak of your capacity.
Just as the moon follows a continuous cycle of rebirth, connecting with the lunar cycle will lead to ascension in your projects. To do so, you must maintain the same recurring consistency within the cycle.
Steps for Meditation and Lunar Rituals
Choose one of the solstices, during which you will prepare your meditation elements. For 12 days, focus solely on your goal. Afterward, you will need 8 to 9 days of preparation for the waxing moon. During this period, you should avoid sugars and legumes. Over the 9 moons of preparation, think of all the possible options and scenarios for achieving your goal. I advise you to write them down in a notebook and keep it with you between 7 and 9 at night.
On the day of the waxing moon, you will feel cold because your back must be uncovered, and your body, exposed to the moonlight, will shine. In each of the 15 days leading up to the new moon, you will solidify your goal and envision a different scenario each day. Ensure that each meditation session does not exceed one hour. Rest well, as the answers you seek will be revealed in your dreams, connecting all the ideas in your mind.
